Valentine's Day is 14 February, and every year plenty of people look for a card that does not look like hundreds of others on the shop rack. Here you start with a description: the colours your partner likes, and whether the card should be romantic, elegant or simply make them laugh. Add a shared joke, a favourite place or a nickname, and we design an illustration to match.

4. Download your filesUsually after 2–5 minutes you get an email with print-ready PDF (with bleed) and PNG files.

Valentine's card sizes

You can also enter a custom size in mm or cm, portrait or landscape. A6 fits a C6 envelope, DL fits a DL envelope. You can put your wishes on the back.

What to write in a Valentine's card

One specific sentence that only fits the two of you works better than a generic I love you. Mention a moment you shared or something you are grateful for.

• Romantic: a memory of your first date and one line about the future.
• Funny: a shared joke, a nickname or a silly title for your other half.
• Short: three to five words on the front, the rest on the back.
• With a surprise: an invitation to dinner with the date and place.

Printed or online Valentine?

Hand over a printed card with flowers or a gift: all you need is thicker card and a few minutes at a copy shop or on a good home printer. If you are apart, send the PNG by email, WhatsApp or Messenger, and your Valentine sees exactly the same design. Order it on the morning of 14 February and it can be on their phone before breakfast.
